New Gay "Study" again Fails Gays

According to American Psychological Association past president Dr. Nicholas Cummings, award winning author of Destructive Trends in Mental Health, the first time in history was in 1973 after several years of gays literally storming APA conventions: A mental disorder was declassified by political activism rather than by scientific advance. That disorder was homosexuality.

The patients simply demanded and received a new diagnosis: normal.

Since then, the social science community has spent over 35 years attempting to reconcile this political stance with the undisputed reality that homosexuals are at higher risk medically and mentally than any other so-called 'healthy' population.

A new study at the University of Minnesota with principal investigator Simon Rosser, Ph.D., a researcher in the School of Public Health, continues the trend:

"For more than 150 years, scholars and educators have debated whether homosexuality is an objective disorder or whether societal prejudice, not homosexuality, leads to the elevated rates of depression, drug use, and HIV/STD epidemics seen in studies of gay men, Rosser said. This study tested both theories.

Rosser concludes, "In particular, the old advice to gay men to fight, deny, or minimize their homosexuality likely only increases depression, greater isolation, and poorer sexual health. In short, viewing homosexuality as a disorder is not only inaccurate, it may be harmful as well."

The very suggestion that the normalcy of homosexuality was debated to a wide extent in the 1850s begs scrutiny. Notice the subtle derision "old" advice. And what sounds like data driven conclusions are made unchallengeable with clever little caveats likely and may be?

Politically correct filtering of research is enforced by LGBT divisions within the mental health guilds who own and publish all major peer reviewed professional periodicals. Nonnegotiable dogma dictates that all data can and must be interpreted to conform to two cardinal rules: (1) Homosexuality is normal; (2) Negative attitudes toward homosexuality cause the myriad of maladies afflicting the gay population. Researchers who report otherwise risk professional derision and academic exile.

After billions of dollars, resolution of the gay health dilemma is doomed to fail. It will remain so until mental health professionals recapture their science from activists who blindly equate advancing political gamesmanship with actually addressing pandemic LGBT health problems.

Until the shackles of political correctness are broken, research to meet real medical and mental health needs of LGBT individuals will remain unwelcome, unfunded, and unpublished.
