After holding "homosexuality in abeyance" for some years, Emergent Church icon Tony Jones, the former national coordinator of Emergent Village, has concluded that LGBT relationships are in accordance with Christianity and should be blessed.
Unfortunately, there is nothing in Tony's statement underpinned with biblical foundation. Rather, we are treated to emotional strings paraphrasing the talking points of gay activists. Lacking reason and failing common sense, his writing reminds me of this scripture:
"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to
have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in
accordance to their own desires.." [II Tim 4:3]
Many desire some respite from the daily onslaught of gay demands and propaganda in and out of the Church. But by Mr. Jones resolving himself in favor of gay hermeneutics and ideology, both natural Truth and the Word become collateral damage.
Jones suggests that to be in harmony with Christian teaching, "not being welcome to bring home the one they love" is a wrong that needs to be righted. If this is relevant to homosexuality, why not also for relationships of pedophilia, adultery, or incest? Does just saying "oh, that's different" pass the smell test?
I too am great sinner, I do not claim that I am not. But let's not ask others to commit heresy to soothe our consciences...nor jeopardize our salvation and others' by proposing and then acting upon false teachings.
